Nendoroid Luka Megurine: Cheeful Ver. Review

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I made a Nendoroid review. For the past weeks I was busy playing MHFU studying for our exams. LOL.
Today we are going to take a look at another Nendoroid from the Cheeful Japan! Project, Nendoroid #220: Luka Megurine: Cheeful Version!

Luka Megurine, is a Vocaloid like Miku. I like her voice more than Miku because her voice is not high pitched(it’s just my personal opinion so please don’t hoard me). This Nendoroid is an improved version of Nendoroid#93 :Luka Megurine. Because it is a Cheerful Japan! product, everytime someone buys it, ¥1000 is donated to Japan Red Cross to help support the relief efforts for the victims of the tsunami and earthquake at Northern Japan. (All Cheerful Japan product were both limited and exclusive.) Click here for more info about Luka.

She comes with 2 pairs of arms ,a bent right arm, a bent left arm, a left arm with out the golden bracelet, a left hand holding tambourine and a bent leg which can be either used as a left or a right.

The first pair of arms(upper right) are used for the Double Lariat pose.

The tambourine was pretty detailed for it size.

Unfortunately there were 3 circles left by the mold on the back side. (I hope you can see it…)

Pink pompoms were also included.

The peg which was used to connect the pompoms to the arm are a bit loose. ^^;

She has 2 hair parts, one with the usual style and another one with a pony tail.

Each hair has it’s own front hair piece.

Some of the earphones’ parts and the piece of hair that fall over her left shoulder can be removed.

The earphone parts can also be remove on the ponytail hair. The ponytail can also be remove.

The ponytail has a Nendoroid joint that you can rotate 360° and move upwards and downwards.

The front hair pieces are not interchangeable because the pegs don’t have the same size. The one from the right also has more pegs than the one from the left.

Ponytail’s front hair piece on the left and standard hair’s front piece on the right.

They also did forget to include Tako-Luka! She is a fan made character. This is what you get when you imagine that Luka’s hair is an octopus. (Click here to read more about Tako-Luka.)

Despite Tako-Luka being 3 times smaller than the Luka nendo, she’s still pretty detailed.

When you look at her from the bottom you’ll see the suction cups on her tentacles. Unfortunately they were just painted not sculpted. I don’t know the use of the hole but my guess is it can be used for Nendoroid Petites.(not sure though)

The front tentacles can rotate 360° and can be removed as seen on the picture above.

They also included a Cheerful Japan! visor for her. It only had the logo of Cheerful Japan! on it… =___=

Nendo Luka also comes with this really beautiful postcard!

It was taped behind the pink card board thing inside the box.

Now let’s move on to Luka’s faceplates. She come with three, standard, singing and a Double Lariat. When I was taking pictures of this Nendoroid, I noticed that Luka and Tako-Luka’s faceplates where a bit glittery (make-up maybe?). I’m not sure if the figure was made like that since our country has a tropical climate and it might have affected the figure.

Details on the eyes where pretty good.

I can hear her voice just by looking a this faceplate. ( ̄ω ̄)

For those who don’t know what Double Lariat is it’s a fan made song using Luka’s voice. It was originally uploaded on NicoNicoDouga but it has a Youtube version too. It was a really nice song! I placed the video below so be sure to watch it if you still haven’t. (I actually didn’t know that much about Luka until I made this review ^^;) Click here if you want to read more about Double Lariat

This is how she’s look like when you do the Double Larait pose. This expression of hers kinda looks like that from an alien. Sorry for the out of focused picture. (ノ ̄д ̄)ノ

Let’s take a look at Luka’s voluptuous body! 〜( ̄△ ̄〜)

The deal’s on the earphones were pretty cool.

They made a very good job sculpting her assets and the designs on her clothes.  But the paint job around the jewel and the left shoulder was a little bit off.  ( ̄ω ̄)

She also had the trademark “03” on her left shoulder which represents that she’s the 3rd Japanese Vocaloid2 released .

Some electronic buttons on her right arm.

Paint job near the buckle of her belt was a little off… =_=

Her boots looks nice… =w=

Downsides of Luka Megurine: Cheerful Version

First, the stand gets in the way when you try to pose her. It sometimes gets in the way specially when you’re using her normal hair. Second, some parts of the figure had mistakes on the paint. It would have been better if it weren’t any of those. And last would be the loose ball joint of the pompoms. ( ̄ω ̄)

The stand was shorter than the regular ones. You can’t tilt her head upward because it gets in the way.

Conclusion (8 out of 10)

It was still a good figure despite of the mistakes on the paint job. The new hair piece was a really good addition to it. Highly recommended to Luka fans. Also recommended for not Luka fans, if you like pink haired girls with big… o__o

And thus, concludes another Nendoroid review! This one took a while because I was busy and lazy at the same time. Also, I had a hard time trying to critic this figure for some reason. Anyway, Hope you enjoyed reading and see you on my next entry!!! (〜 ̄▽ ̄)〜
