Nendoroid Mikudayo- Review

Today we’re going to review yet another version of Hatsune Miku.

It’s Nendoroid#299: Mikudayo- !!!

For those who don’t know, Mikudayo is a mascot created to promote a Vocaloid 3DS game by SEGA. It was suppose to replicate the Nendoroid-style appearance of the characters in game. The life-size costume received a lot of criticism from Japan’s side of the internet. Some people also took a liking to it and thus ended up being viral and eventually a Nendoroid figure of her.

To put it simply Nendoroid ==> Nendoroid in a game ==> Nendoroid costume of a Nendoroid in a game ==> Nendoroid of a Nendoroid costume of a Nendoroid in a game. Nendo-ception!

What’s inside the box(5/10)

  • Mikudayo
  • 2 pairs of twin tails ball jointed and not(ball jointed ones are attached on the picture)
  • right hand holding a lollipop(Fujiya’s Pop Candy)

That was it. But to be honest I don’t think she needs a lot of accessories she was made after a life size body costume after all. On the other hand I think they should have made a small figure of a kid running away from her and a few arm and leg parts.

Details(8/10)

I really think they did a great job with this one. They really nailed the killer-like expression and the neckless-ness of the costume. The chubby fingers also looks really nice. (♥ó㉨ò)ノ♡
The folds on her clothes were placed strategically(I think) to make her look as chubby as possible!

The face that will devour your soul. (。☉౪ ⊙。)

Not so sure what the logo represents but I really like it.

Articulation(9.5/10)

The articulation of the figure was quite impressive for a Nendoroid. I really like how they added ball joints on her shoulder! But there are some issues that can’t be over looked.

The peg on the twintails did quite hold with them. So it ends up getting stuck on her head when you remove the twintails.

The bottom of the faceplate is concave. This make her look neckless, which is good. lol

This is what’s under her collar and tie. Her chest can be moved inward and outward. I don’t know why the placed it like that though. o__o

The pegs on her shoulder give her a lot of poseability for her arms. Unfortunately she didn’t have elbow joints.

Price(10/10)
She’s the cheapest Nendoroid I got so far. Her original retail price was 3,000JPY(1,293.00 PHP/36.5961 SGD/29.2660 USD/347,858.28 IDR) I got her for 1,760PHP(4,078.58 JPY/ 49.77 SGD/39.80 USD/473,028.03 IDR). Most of the time a cheap Nendoroid means less accessories, which I think is better than spending a large amount for limited edition one with the same number accessories as this one but much much more expensive.

Conclusion(8.125/10)
I like this Nendoroid a lot. The main reason that I bought it was for the laughs and for some photo ideas that I’ve though of. I expected it to be ugly and I got the ugliness that I hoped for. But at the same time I also got a lot of good stuff with it.(Does that sound bad ass or what? haha) (ΦзΦ)

Pros

  • Cheap.
  • Very Poseable.
  • Her ugliness comes with a charm.
  • Useful for scaring kids(still not tested)

Cons

  • Comes with very few accessories.
  • It’s annoying when a peg gets stuck on her head.

And thus, another Nendoroid review concludes.
Thanks for reading and see you on my next post! ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Oh good! that was the reaction I wanted to get XD
I think they really meant to make it as horrible as possible because the mascot was awful as well. :))
